Starting over in a new city

After failing to make my crazy move to Georgia work, I admitted defeat and moved back to Arizona. I decided to spend a year getting my stuff together before making another major move. I lasted eleven months before heading out on a new adventure.

Before my latest move I worked as a newspaper page designer in a small town. I worked nights so making connections and building friendships often felt impossible. Since I lived in a small town finding fun things to do outside of shopping or going to the movies was difficult. For eight months I worked at the newspaper, visited family, watched movies, took an archery class, worked out, and basically had no life. On the evening during my 24th birthday my family took me out to dinner and I announced that I was going to start looking for a new job.

A couple weeks after my birthday I finally began applying to jobs, and the Sunday before Valentines day I had a new job offer and 3 weeks to pack up my apartment and move to Texas. I didn't plan on moving to Texas, in fact I had no desire to, but the opportunity to have a life outside of work was too great to pass up.

I've been living in Texas for about 4 months now and I'm pretty much living the exact same life I lived in Arizona. Basically I'm bored. I work, go to the gym, sleep and work again. I live in an exciting city, so this boredom is my own fault. Sad thing is I didn't realize I was living the exact same life until an old friend came to visit and they asked me about what I do in my spare time. Hanging out with them reminded me that I moved in order to make connections and have a life. I moved so that I could do more than go to work and pay bills. The only problem is I've spent the last 2 years trying to get a job, trying not to lose job, moving to different states or dealing with potential friendships fizzling out before they find solid ground. So I'm a little rusty at letting loose and having fun. Maybe this move to Texas is a good thing. It seems this time will be a great opportunity to make some changes in my life?

What do you do when you're ready to make a major change in your life?
